How you can make a difference:
As a medical research engineer in our team, you will be part of an interdisciplinary research and development team working on the challenges of tomorrow's mechanical ventilation.
You will work with engineers, scientists, and physicians to design, test, and validate innovative physiological closed-loop control systems for automated mechanical ventilation.
You will be responsible for incrementally developing a model-based simulation environment to objectively assess controller performances. Additionally, you will be responsible for test-driven development of innovative physiological closed-loop controllers. You will then be involved in testing and validating these controllers, initially in a testing environment and later in a clinical environment as part of a clinical study.
That's what you bring along:
To be considered for the role, you must have the following qualifications and experience:
A university degree in systems-, control- or biomedical engineering, or in a closely related field
A PhD or at least three years of working experience in a relevant field

Programming skills in C/C++ or similar languages
Independent, solution-oriented, and methodical way of working
Fluency in English
Additionally, you will have an advantage if you have any of the following qualifications or experience:
Knowledge of control theory
Experience in developing various types of controllers (such as PID, fuzzy, adaptive, predictive controllers, etc.)
A high level of independence in problem solving
Experience in data acquisition and processing
Research or development experience in mechanical ventilation or medical devices
Experience in conducting or participating in clinical studies
Knowledge of medicine, respiratory physiology and/or mechanical ventilation
German language skills
