Automation Engineer (f/m/d)

Our engineering department is a close-knit team of more than 30 employees that covers all engineering aspects in-house. We operate like a family, supporting each other, and are composed of regional and international specialists. Our team communicates in both German and English. The Automation / OT Engineer focuses on the operation and maintenance of automation and operational technology (OT) systems in biopharmaceutical production. The emphasis is on ensuring these systems are efficient, reliable, and compliant with regulatory standards. This role also encompasses leading projects to further enhance system performance and process quality.

Main accountabilities

• Operation and Maintenance: Ensure the efficient and compliant operation of automation and OT systems. Conduct regular maintenance to maximize uptime and minimize breakdowns

• System Administration: Manage building management systems (BMS) such as Desigo and Honeywell. Perform administrative tasks to ensure system reliability and performance

• Project Management: Lead automation and OT projects, from design through to commissioning and qualification, ensuring alignment with operational goals and compliance requirements

• SOP Development and Optimization: Author, review, and optimize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for clarity, efficiency, and regulatory compliance

• Deviation Investigation and CAPA Management: Lead investigations into system deviations, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

Expected technical competencies

• Technical and Design Expertise: Strong background in automation and OT, with specific skills in the administration of building management systems (Desigo, Honeywell)

• Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage automation and OT projects, ensuring coordination with stakeholders and adherence to timelines and budgets

• Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Excellent at identifying and resolving technical issues, both in hardware and software

• Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of GMP, FDA, EMA, and other relevant regulatory guidelines

Educational Background and professional expertise

• Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation and OT system operation and maintenance, with project management experience.

Der Automation / OT Engineer befasst sich mit dem Betrieb und der Wartung von Automatisierungs- und Betriebstechnik (OT) Systemen in der biopharmazeutischen Produktion. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Sicherstellung, dass diese Systeme effizient und zuverlässig sind und den gesetzlichen Vorschriften entsprechen. Diese Funktion umfasst auch die Leitung von Projekten zur weiteren Verbesserung der Systemleistung und Prozessqualität.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Betrieb und Wartung: Sicherstellung des effizienten und vorschriftsmäßigen Betriebs von Automatisierungs- und OT-Systemen. Durchführen regelmäßiger Wartungsarbeiten zur Maximierung der Betriebszeit und Minimierung von Ausfällen
• Systemverwaltung: Verwaltung von Gebäudemanagementsystemen (BMS) wie Desigo und Honeywell. Durchführung von Verwaltungsaufgaben zur Gewährleistung der Systemzuverlässigkeit und -leistung
• Projektleitung: Leitung von Automatisierungs- und OT-Projekten, von der Planung bis zur Inbetriebnahme und Qualifizierung, unter Gewährleistung der Übereinstimmung mit den Betriebszielen und den Compliance-Anforderungen
• SOP-Entwicklung und -Optimierung: Verfassen, Überprüfen und Optimieren von Standardarbeitsanweisungen (SOPs) im Hinblick auf Klarheit, Effizienz und Einhaltung von Vorschriften
• Abweichungsuntersuchung und CAPA-Management: Leitung von Untersuchungen zu Systemabweichungen, Ermittlung der Grundursachen und Umsetzung von Korrektur- und Vorbeugungsmaßnahmen (CAPA)

Technische Kompetenzen

• Technische und gestalterische Kompetenz: Ausgeprägte Kenntnisse in den Bereichen Automatisierung und OT, mit speziellen Kenntnissen in der Verwaltung von Gebäudemanagementsystemen (Desigo, Honeywell)
• Projektmanagement-Fähigkeiten: Nachgewiesene Fähigkeit, Automatisierungs- und OT-Projekte zu leiten und zu verwalten und dabei die Koordination mit den Beteiligten sowie die Einhaltung von Zeit- und Kostenplänen sicherzustellen
• Problemlösungs- und Analysefähigkeiten: Hervorragende Fähigkeit zur Identifizierung und Lösung technischer Probleme, sowohl bei Hardware als auch bei Software
• Regulatorische Kenntnisse: Umfassendes Verständnis von GMP, FDA, EMA und anderen relevanten regulatorischen Richtlinien
• Bildungshintergrund: Bachelor- oder Master-Abschluss in Automatisierungstechnik, Elektrotechnik, Biotechnologie oder einem verwandten Bereich.
• Berufserfahrung: Mindestens 5 Jahre Erfahrung im Betrieb und in der Wartung von Automatisierungs- und OT-Systemen, mit Erfahrung im Projektmanagement
