To support our team, we are looking for our offices in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland for a:

Mechanical Design Engineer

Purpose:

To develop new and/or to improve existing energy storage systems, sub-systems and modules, which meet customer needs and expectations in terms of performance, cost, reliability and safety. Engages in product development throughout all phases of product lifecycle, including technical specification, concept, design, prototyping, testing, supplier interfacing, creating technical documentation, introduction to production and continuous improvement. The products could be for various applications including rail, marine and commercial vehicles.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Work on various domains including mechanical components and structures, integration of electrical components and circuits, cooling and thermal management, gas exhausts, fire management, etc…
  • Collaborate with various other teams such as technical management, project management, electrical, test and validation, electronic and software development, procurement, production, quality, etc…
  • Create 3D models and 2D technical drawings respecting the design standards and considering the DFA, DFM, DFR.
  • Initiate/analyze engineering change request (ECR) and implements engineering change orders (ECO).
  • Manage bills of material in PDM (eBOM) and ERP (mBOM).
  • Participate in design reviews, revises/validates and/or updates technical drawings made by others.
  • Perform technical calculations to dimension parts and to size components.
  • Create and update technical documentation for existing and new products (e.g. technical specification, DFMEA, user manuals, assembly insturctions,…).
  • Follow up strategic suppliers providing components in different fields of technologies such as injection molding, extrusion, machining, sheetmetal, welding, etc..
  • Support the test and validation team in prototype design and testing.
  • Stay updated on new technologies, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Responsible for performing other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Proficiency in 3D + 2D CAD design and PDM product structure and workflow (SolidWorks advantage).
  • Proven experience in product design and industrialization including the V-cycle developments process.
  • The following will be considered as advantage:

          - General knowledge of rechargeable battery systems and their challenges.
          - Understanding of electrical, electronic and software constraints in mechanical systems.
          - Comprehension of integration of cooling systems (heat exchangers, piping, chillers).
          - Knowledge of in CE, ECE, functional safety, automotive, railway and marine standards.
          - Experience in and design for a high volume production is an advantage.

Languages:

  • English fluent spoken and written.
  • French or other European language would be a plus.

Other:

  • Availability for occasional business travel (up to 10%).
