Head of the Life Sciences Research Institute (80-100%)
Position description:
As a member of the School of Engineering's management team, contribute to the definition and implementation of its academic and institutional strategy
Lead the research institute's research and innovation strategy in line with the university's academic priorities and industry needs, in coordination with the head of the degree programme
Oversee the academic, financial and operational management of the research institute
Establish and develop partnerships with industry, academia and public bodies at regional, national and international levels
Support teams (around 85 staff members) in the development of applied research and innovation projects
Contribute to the quality and recognition of the university's research and innovation activities
Work in close coordination with the head of the degree programme to align research and education
Teach in your area of expertise
Selection criteria:
PhD in life sciences
Established track record in scientific research and academic publishing
Ability to develop and implement a medium- to long-term strategic vision and to anticipate developments in the life sciences
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams, communicate effectively and take decisions
Strong understanding of the industrial and institutional landscape in the life sciences at regional, national and international levels; industry experience is an advantage
Good understanding of research funding mechanisms and related reporting requirements
Familiarity with the Swiss tertiary education landscape; teaching experience at the tertiary level is an advantage
Native French or German speaker with very good knowledge of the second language and of English

Starting date 1 February 2027 or upon agreement
