Senior Engineer Automated Visual Inspection (AVI) / Technology Deployment

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced professional to take technical ownership of the deployment of Automated Visual Inspection (AVI) equipment within an international pharmaceutical environment. The main focus of this assignment is the current project phase covering design and build activities. The objective is to ensure a smooth, compliant, and operationally aligned implementation of the technology.

This position combines strong technical expertise in visual inspection systems with project coordination, vendor collaboration, and cross-functional stakeholder management. It is ideal for someone who can confidently operate both on the engineering side and in a project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Take the technical lead in the deployment of AVI equipment
  • Provide subject matter expertise in equipment performance, vision technologies, and automated inspection processes
  • Work closely with vendors and internal technical teams to support equipment design and customization
  • Contribute to machine qualification activities, software setup, and optimization of vision systems
  • Oversee the build phase, including mechanical integration and software-related implementation
  • Support and technically drive factory acceptance testing activities

Project Coordination

  • Lead and coordinate technical workstreams within AVI-related projects
  • Ensure project timelines, milestones, and deliverables are achieved
  • Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Identify and resolve technical issues arising during the equipment build phase

Process Development and Compliance

  • Translate technical requirements into practical and sustainable business solutions
  • Establish and improve standardized processes within the project environment
  • Prepare and maintain robust documentation in a GMP-regulated setting
  • Ensure a structured, compliant, and traceable way of working

Required Profile

  • Degree in engineering or a similar technical discipline
  • Several years of relevant professional experience, ideally 5 to 10 years or more
  • Strong knowledge of general visual inspection standards and requirements
  • Solid expertise in Automated Visual Inspection equipment and vision system technologies
  • Proven hands-on experience in the implementation or deployment of AVI equipment
  • Strong leadership and project coordination skills
  • Well-developed documentation skills and a structured working style
  • Experience in GMP-regulated environments
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Fluent in English

Ideal Candidate

You bring deep technical understanding of AVI systems and have already supported or led complex equipment projects in regulated production environments. At the same time, you are comfortable collaborating with suppliers, engineering teams, quality functions, and operational stakeholders to drive implementation successfully.
