We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with strong SQL and data modelling expertise to support the development, optimisation, and governance of enterprise data platforms within a highly regulated financial services environment.

Job description:
  • Develop and optimise complex SQL transformations supporting analytics, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain SQL-centric ETL/ELT data pipelines and ingestion workflows.
  • Contribute to enterprise data models including Data Vault, dimensional, and 3NF structures.
  • Implement data quality checks, validation rules, monitoring, and SQL testing.
  • Support data governance, lineage, metadata management, and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate closely with finance, risk, compliance, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Support troubleshooting across ingestion, modelling, and operational processes.
  • Contribute to platform evolution, engineering improvements, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Work with BI teams to optimise datasets for reporting and dashboard consumption.
  • Apply engineering best practices including testing, version control, automation, and documentation.

  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or SQL-heavy backend development roles.
  • Strong experience within banking, financial services, or other regulated enterprise environments.
  • Expert-level SQL knowledge including complex query development, optimisation, and performance tuning.
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise data models such as Data Vault, dimensional modelling, SCD, and 3NF.
  • Experience building and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines and ingestion workflows.
  • Experience with Python for automation, API integrations, or workflow optimisation is highly beneficial.
  • Exposure to BI and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms is advantageous.
  • Experience working with data governance, lineage, metadata management, monitoring, and testing frameworks.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities with a proactive and quality-focused mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Fluent English is required; German and/or French is considered advantageous.
