Head of Data

At its core, FELFEL is a food company, serving over 1,000 businesses and around 50,000 people daily with lunch across Switzerland. Yet, we're also a data and tech-driven company, gathering vast amounts of data every second to drive critical business decisions. As we grow and focus on our product, it’s time to streamline our data landscape: We’re looking for a business-minded person to design robust data systems, ensure strong governance, and optimize business operations. You'll also lead a team of three data professionals.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Data vision & strategy: Together with the senior management team you put down FELFEL’s data strategy clearly on paper to support our overall company strategy and goals
• Definition of data architecture: ensuring it supports advanced analytics, machine learning, and decision-making capabilities
• Creation of tools & data visualization for organization: to make efficient business decision in day-to-day work and long term strategy
• Define & own data governance: together with senior management you decide on the actual data definitions and on which teams should be using which data in CH and USA
• Ensure data quality in our core ERP systems: you set up checks and balances up to make sure data quality is correct
• Leading 3 team members: you are responsible for three data and BI engineers that support you – you are a role model for them and develop them to their next stage.
• Optimization and monitoring of data warehouse: Snowflake and associated systems such as Fivetran, DBT and Tableau
• Champion automation and efficiency, integrating orchestration tools like Airflow to improve workflows
• Support different business projects with the hat of data in mind, contributing to strong business processes and systems.
• Lead AI initiatives, including AI-driven customer insights, tailored supply optimizations , and embedding Generative AI across business processes to build a decentralized AI-driven organization (AI culture)

YOUR PROFILE

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering and architecture, with at least 5 years in leadership roles
• 5+ years of experience in leading a business function (e.g. demand planning, forecasting)
• Business sense is crucial for this role
• A background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• Proficient in SQL with a solid understanding of data architecture and modeling, and hands-on experience with DBT
• Skilled with Snowflake and familiar with data ingestion tools like Fivetran and Snowpipe
• Expertise in automating and scaling workflows using orchestration tools such as Airflow
• Familiarity with Python is a plus
• Strong commitment to data quality with a focus on well-documented lineage and KPIs
• Demonstrated success in building and optimizing robust data pipelines for performance, scalability, and for some applications extremely low latency
• Experience deploying AI-driven solutions, such as customer insights and supply chain optimization is a plus
