Founded on 14th April 1900 in Paris, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is the world governing body for cycling. Its mission is to develop and supervise cycling in all its forms and for everybody, as a competitive sport, as a healthy recreational activity and as a means of transport and having fun. Additionally, the UCI promotes a number of its own events, including the UCI Road World Championships, an iconic annual event, and a wide range of other UCI World Championships and World Cups across the various disciplines. It is based in Aigle, Switzerland, at the UCI World Cycling Centre.
To support the ongoing implementation and progress of its Sustainability Agenda 2030, the UCI is seeking a:
Mission:
In your capacity as Sustainability Coordinator, you will assist the UCI Cycling for All & Sustainability Manager in the planning and delivery of Sustainability projects, milestones and partnerships, driving engagement both internally with UCI departments and externally with UCI cycling family stakeholders, as well as in the administrative tasks arising from this sector.
Main responsibilities:
- Work across departments to support the effective implementation of the UCI’s Sustainability Agenda 2030, including the development and/or update of planned deliverables, policies and guidelines.
- Follow the implementation of the UCI’s climate treansition plan, including the calculation of its annual organisational carbon footprint.
- Follow the implementation of the UCI’s commitments as part of the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework and Sports for Nature framework.
- Ensure coordination and follow-up with all UCI Climate Action Charter signatories, including future reporting requirements.
- Ensure the coordination and organisation of internal and external sustainability working group meetings.
- Support the implementation of climate action education for cycling family stakeholders.
- Support the preparation of regular progress reports to the UCI Management Committee and UCI Cycling for All & Sustainable Cycling Commission.
Profile:
- Completed studies in the field of sustainability or environmental management or a comparable qualification
- Several years of professional experience in sustainability, project management, and stakeholder engagement
- A strong understanding of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
- Perfect command of spoken and written English and French
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to lead and facilitate meetings and networks
- Comfortable with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Very good written and organisational skills
- Sense of responsibility, autonomy, proactivity, adaptability
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- High interest in sport, cycling a plus
