A unique opportunity for a researcher (post-doc) position in an academic/industrial setting.
Position description
The Mass Spectrometry Group at HES-SO Valais-Wallis is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in proteomics, liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS), and biotherapeutic characterisation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Orbitrap technologies, a strong background in sample preparation, data analysis, and familiarity with bioinformatics tools relevant to proteomics.
You will contribute to advanced research in the utilisation of AI-based and generative intelligence technology in MS-based biotherapeutic profiling and will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including software engineers and industry partners.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform LC-HRMS-based proteomics workflows, focusing on Orbitrap instruments.
- Design and execute sample preparation protocols.
- Process, interpret, and report data for proteomics and biotherapeutic characterisation projects.
- Apply and optimise MAM strategies for detailed characterisation of biologics.
- Analyse host cell protein profiles for quality and process control.
- Collaborate with software developers to streamline data processing and integration.
- Engage with industry stakeholders to translate findings into real-world applications.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation, reports, and scientific presentations.
Preferred qualifications:
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in LC-HRMS, particularly with Orbitrap mass spectrometers.
- Experience with proteomics workflows, including digestion, enrichment, and quantification techniques.
- Expertise with Genedata Expressionist or similar proteomics data analysis platforms; knowledge of MAM workflows and HCP analysis will be considered a valuable asset.
- Knowledge of protein structure, post-translational modifications, and therapeutic protein analysis.
- Experience with bioinformatics and/or coding in R, Python, or similar languages is a plus.
- Strong organisational, communication, and collaborative skills.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
What we offer:
- Stimulating research with a dynamic and innovative research team tackling real-world challenges in biopharmaceutical development.
- Collaboration with leading scientists, engineers, and industry experts.
