This role will be within the Pivot to Value organization as part of the Value Engineering team specifically focused on GT rotors, casings, and structures as well as Generators, Steam Turbines, and HRSG.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Improve business contribution margin through Pivot to Value initiatives that either reduce cost or increase customer value.
- Generate cost reduction ideas through value stream mapping, vendor ideation sessions, participating in LEAN events, and collaboration with functional teams (engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing).
- With product management, generate initiatives that increase customer value which result in increased pricing power or increased sales revenue.
- Initiatives that reduce product cost include GE cost to manufacture in our factories (in collaboration with Global Supply Chain) or cost to procure through external suppliers (in collaboration with the Gas Power Sourcing team).
- Create strong business cases to present to senior leadership and gain the funding and resources required to implement the initiative.
- Conduct analytics and parametric modeling to assist management teams in setting cost targets and to support the org in negotiation and translation into business case / projects
- Install and harmonize a gated VE process with Cost PMO & functional organizations (Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing) to drive resource allocation and pacing through the lifecycle of project ideas. This will include ideation, business case development, activity planning, turnover to execution teams, project execution & value realization
- Drive implementation of project plans until full value capture, supporting both Core & Non-Core systems:
Across core systems, VE will conduct teardowns, ideate, and should-cost parts to identify potential for reducing cost and balancing value
Across non-core systems, VE will support the efforts of the Systems Architecture team. This will include challenging specs and should-costing parts to identify potential for cost reductions ("make" components) and challenge supplier prices against best-in-class ("buy" components). - Build and codify cost analysis knowledge and capabilities
Create a long-term and sustainable engine within GE Gas Power for generating business value through cost-out efforts
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong experience in design or manufacture of heavy duty generators for power generation.
- Domain expertise in new unit manufacturing and service/repair processes for both legacy GE and legacy Alstom generators.
- Prior work leading cross functional teams
- Fluency in English.
- Ability to travel up to 20% in their work schedule for Europe region.

- Proven experience in product lifecycle cost analysis e.g. material, manufacturing costs, assembly and logistics cost.
- GE product experience in Steam Turbines
- Superior problem solving abilities & analytical skills e.g. data analysis, experience formulating business cases
- Knowledgeable across product portfolio at the component level, financials, and commercial level
- Knowledge of the power generation marketplace
- Prior work as a senior engineer
